The 8th YSA-PhD-Symposium at the Medical University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria
organized by Young Scientists Association (YSA) will be held on 13-14th of June 2012. Abstract submissions starts on March 8th and ends April 2nd.

The forthcoming 7th ORPHEUS 2012 Conference, to be held 19-21 April 2012, in Bergen, is on the theme "Establishing Evaluation of PhD Training". On this topic, keynote speakers will provide impulses that will be further discussed in workshops to elaborate guidelines and strategies on ORPEHUS organized international evaluation of PhD training in Europe.

Die Vienna Human Pain Research Group am Wilhelminenspital der Stadt Wien sucht zum nächstmöglichen Zeitpunkt:

oder
Ausbildungsassistenten (m/w) für Anästhesie und Intensivmedizin mit Forschungsinteresse in der Schmerzforschung

für ein großes, klinisches Forschungsprojekt zur Untersuchung von Faktoren, welche zur Chronifizierung von Schmerzen und deren Reversierung führen.
Unsere Hypothesen dieser translationalen klinischen  Forschungsprojekte basieren auf Erkenntnissen präklinischer Forschung (siehe z.B. Science 312: 1659; Science 299: 1237) und eigener rezenter Forschungsergebnisse humaner Schmerzforschung. Unser erklärtes Ziel ist, Mechanismen der Schmerzchronifizierung zu identifizieren und diese effektiv zu behandeln. Wir wollen damit  zur Verbesserung der Schmerztherapie beitragen. 
Wir bieten hervorragende Möglichkeiten zu internationaler Spitzenforschung und Ausbildung in der klinischen und neurowissenschaftlichen Forschung in einem jungen engagierten Team im Rahmen des klinischen PhD-Programms der MedUni Wien (Clin. Neuroscience).  Die Forschungsprojekte finden an der  Abteilung für Anästhesie, Intensiv- und Schmerzmedizin am Wilhelminenspital (Lehrkrankenhaus der MedUni Wien) statt. Junge ForscherInnen mit Interesse an Schmerztherapie und bei Wunsch auch Anästhesie haben erstklassige Möglichkeiten, Forschung und Klinik zu verbinden. Die enge Zusammenarbeit mit routiniertem Studienpersonal ist für uns selbstverständlich. Eine Anfangsfinanzierung des Programms ist gesichert.

Wie von allen Mitgliedern unsere Forschergruppe erwarten wir wissenschaftliche Neugier, Begeisterungs- und Teamfähigkeit, sowie überdurchschnittliches Engagement und Belastungsfähigkeit. Gute Deutschkenntnisse sind aus methodischen Gründen in der klinischen Schmerzforschung erforderlich.

Come and join the YSA on May the 3rd at 15:30-18:30 at Jugendstilhörsaal (AKH, BT88, Ebene 2) and learn about "What Methods Can Do For You!" during your PhD.

15 min sessions will be about Gene chips, Imaging units, Coordination Centre for Clinical Studies, Proteomics, a Monoclonal Antibody Facility, Flow Cytometry, Mass Spectromentry and Next Generation Sequencing.

Take the opportunity to learn about methods that you can use throughout your scientific career and mingle with frequent users of them during the coffee break provided!
